Malala Uses Her 18th Birthday to Highlight the Plight of Syrian Refugees

A future world leader here

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai took the occasion of her 18th birthday Saturday to ask world leaders to stop “failing the Syrian people.”
Yousafzai spent her birthday near the Syrian border in Lebanon overseeing the opening of the Malala Yousafzai All-Girls School, aimed at providing access to education for more than 200 Syrian refugee girls.
“I am honored to mark my 18th birthday with the brave and inspiring girls of Syria,” Yousafzai said in a statement. “On this day, I have a message for the leaders of this country, this region and the world–you are failing the Syrian people, especially Syria’s children. This is a heartbreaking tragedy–the world’s worst refugee crisis in decades.”
The Malala Fund also announced a grant of $250,000 toward UNICEF and UNHCR efforts to meet funding shortfalls for girls’ schools in a Jordanian refugee camp.

King’s Micro Farm Update

(blogging ain’t easy 🙂 )

Been terribly busy these last few weeks.  Have a brooding chicken on hopefully fertile eggs and another one who thinks she’s brooding.  We’ll find out today or tomorrow if we have live chicks or just rotten eggs.

Have a patio cover almost completed so that we can host a Chickens in Aurora ‘meet and greet’

Got rid of three of my toys (2 boats and a trailer).  No, haven’t given up fishing yet just don’t need the hardware.  I do have “friends” with boats though (I hope lol)

Garden is so so with the corn doing well (4 stalks?)  Don’t think it’s enough to feed us through Sunday though.  But it is green and I love to see it growing.  OH!  I forgot the zucchini though…that one plant should feed us through next year 😉

Egg business may get interesting with the scarcity of eggs in the grocery and more demand at the local level….having issues getting enough this week for the demand I’m afraid.

Gotta go now…..check for baby chicks and the patio cover is to be completed today…

See ya later and Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July!

Yes, the good ole USA made it through another year! (in spite of it’s citizens 😦 )

But things are looking up.  Economy is better, at least here in Colorado we have had plenty of rain, all is green and the heat is somewhat mitigated.

Unfortunately, we do have the elections next year and the campaigning for a year and a half to go…….

No, no comments on the candidates here 😉

So enjoy your Nation’s birthday and all the veterans and first responders that keep it safe for the rest of us, huh?

Tell’em “thank you for your service” where ever you might see them.
